Recovery Coach - Hospital

About this Role

 

The person for this position is responsible for providing recovery support to individuals in hospital and Emergency Department services. Primary goals of this position are to promote recovery, remove barriers, connect individuals to resources, and encourage hope, optimism, and healthy living. Previous professional experience supporting individuals with MH & SUD is required for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site recovery coaching throughout PeaceHealth Southwest Facilities, including the Emergency Department, Inpatient, and the Family Birth Center.

  • Work closely with hospital & emergency department personnel.

  • Coordinate warm handoffs to a larger community of care by facilitating timely referrals and placements from hospital to treatment and/or other recovery resources.

  • Engage in recovery planning with the individual and family and provide follow-up recovery coaching as requested.

  • Operate EPAS/Health Record System to document services provided and ensure compliance with healthcare standards.

  • Maintain a compassionate understanding of the recovery journey (i.e., matters resulting from trauma, addiction, mental health, and/or other struggles such as homelessness) and provide quality support to individuals.

  • Collaborate with other RCCC programs and promote the message and services of RCCC when requested and necessary.

  • Role model and advocate for the recoveree while also encouraging self-advocacy.

  • Attend various meetings and trainings associated with this position.

  • Report to the supervisor and discuss the caseload as well as any issues or barriers that may arise.

  • Work with the supervisor to input required documentation and update data for RCCC monthly reports as necessary.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED and experience working with individuals living with substance use disorder and/or mental health challenges.

  • Experience with the addiction recovery process and understanding of medication-assisted recovery and practices.

  • Familiarity with local support services, resources, and recovery community.

  • Certificate in CCAR Recovery Coach Academy©, Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches©, and Recovery Coaching in the Emergency Department© or obtained within 90 days of hire through RCCC.

  • Ability to work within a hospital setting and work effectively across programs.

  • Ability to consistently serve as a motivator, conflict resolver, and “de-escalator.”

  • Ability to embody principles of recovery in daily interactions.

  • Capacity to support and maintain appropriate boundaries with patients and co-workers.

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to collaborate with individuals of culturally diverse populations.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in the workplace.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with individuals from other agencies.

  • Organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to prioritize.

  • Computer skills and current technology experience.

  • Time management skills & attendance.
